End Of A Hard Month

Hi everyone

Well we finished the month with a win on the Backs leaving us with just shy of 8 points profit. Hopefully we can  improve on that next month.

The Lay situation has been very frustrating with 4 points on the board early on in the month then the 1st ever 4 in a row losers, albeit with pretty low prices, which took us down to -16.5 points. On the positive side we have kept on through the month and finished up +1.5 points and that was without any selections in the last 2 days. Even though the morning Bog did show some Lays that were close, which all went and got beaten. Never mind.

We know some of you split the difference when we had the 4 losers, because the prices were so low and good for you but we, for continuity have to follow the 'stop at a 4 loser rule'

Anyway whether you did split the difference or not we all broke into a profit so that cant be bad

Speak to you all Sunday, new month, new challenges.........

Small profits

Steady day today with a small profit on the backs and the first lay comming in for us we are now 7.61 points up with both systems.

We will be trying hard to get our 12 points on the backs before the months end.

Until tomorrow ......................................

Mixed Day

Hi Everyone.

A bit of a mixed bag today. Our Lays are back in profit, which makes us over 6 points up so far in total. The Backs were a bit disappointing today with the first falling at the last and Larks Lad being pulled up when looking good. Obviously there must have been something wrong with the horse for A P to pull him up

Never mind a profit is a profit and we just have to work harder to get the profit looking better by the end of the month..

Speak to you all tomorrow.....

Good Start to the Week

Hi Everyone

The Lays are almost back to break even, so we still have time to get into a profitable position before the end of the month.

The Backs had a good day with 2 wins and a 2nd. The wins gave us a 4 point boost today and I think we can thank Chris Catlin for La Diosa success after he kept on with the horse after it got upset in the stalls and didn't look like it wanted to play today but Chris showed his skills and forced the horse into the lead.

As we said this morning we are trying to finish the month on a flourish and believe today was a good start....

Speak to you all tomorrow......

Sunday Lays

Hi Everyone,

Well the Lays are almost break even and hopefully on the road to a small profit by the end of the month. Unfortunately there were no Backs today but as we said in the selections this morning there we a couple but the prices were too short, as it happens they lost so the system worked for us.

Speak to you all tomorrow........

Fridays Racing

Well another disappointing end to the week, however we are still up on the month. Haljaferia was well bashed about and the stewards had a good look but let the result stand. The last selection did not run a good race at all. The first selection came 2nd for the 3rd time.

The lay selection came in for us again today less than 3 points down on them now.

Speak to you all Sunday.......................................

Thursday Results

Hi Everyone

The Lays have done it again, even though we had to wait until 8 this evening. Not far from the positive position now.

The Backs came in 2 out of 3 giving us another 1.26 points up making 5.39 in total. We have no idea what happened to Miss Sassi, most unusual for a Nicky Henderson horse, would have been nice to have him come in but there we are.

Lets keep the positive run going now and heres to tomorrow..........

Wednesday Results

Hi Everyone

Again the Lays did the business on the first race and continues to reduce our deficit back towards a positive position, now standing at -4.48 points.

The first Back was beaten but Calcutta Cup ran an outstanding race with his increase in weights, never mind our second Back, which did drift out in the markets, came stomping in and put the favourite right back to 7th. Our Back position is now up to 4.13 which make us almost break even, all we need to do now is keep it up and get ourselves into a reasonable position for the end of the month.

Onwards and upwards lets hope we keep all the meetings for tomorrow.........

Tuesday Results

Hi everyone

Up and down today, the first Back landed well for us, the second was really a 2 horse race when we looked at it this morning, unfortunately we picked the wrong one. Maybe there maybe some merit it in putting 1/2 point on each if we come across it again, something to think about. Still we we were still 3/4 of a point up anyway.

The Lay was duly beaten and helping us reduce the deficit.

On to tomorrow, lets keep the wagon rolling..........

100% Monday

Hi Everyone,

Well all the pundits saying this Monday is officially the most depressing day of the year, I hope we all turned that around with 2 good Backs and the Lay coming in for us aswell.

There did seem something wrong with the Lay as he went from 2nd to last in the space of 2 furlongs, but we don't think he had the race in him anyway.

Both the Back races were exciting affairs and gave us pretty reasonable prices.

Lets hope we can carry this on and get closer to the 12 point position and recover the Lay losses to a positive position.

Speak to you all tomorrow......

Sunday Results

Hi Everyone

A shame that we lost our 2nd Back of the day, we were hoping it would have recovered the loss after the terribly timed charge of War And Peace which came in 2nd, again. We are a little frustrated with all the close placed horses that we are getting, hopefully we can get some of them in and shoot our points up quickly.

The Lays are still recovering at a point per day. Some of you have asked why we cannot recover at a greater rate. Some have asked why not Lay more of the selections or put double the stake. As we use short priced horses which normally go off as favourite we feel that our system is safe, the chance of 4 in a row losing is very rare, in fact has only happened once since our records began and that was just recently. There maybe some merit in doubling the stake but obviously the liability will get high very quickly.

Others have come up with different recovery systems, put them on to the members blog area as suggestions and let everyone benefit from your thoughts.

Onto to tomorrow, lets hope for good weather and some good racing that we can benefit from bye for now, hope to read some of the suggestions on the 'Blog' site.........

wimper not a bang

Sorry folks what a crap day. We finished with a wimper not a bang like we wanted. Even got 2nd place by a neck. The only good news is the first lay came in for us.

On a brighter note it does not take much for the 2nd and 3rds to come 1st. Lets see what next week brings.

Have a good weekend ...............................

Regards

Thurs Results

Today was one of those days that nearly went very well but not quite.

6 selections - 1win - 5 placed - 1 unplaced

About 2 points down on the day but still up on the month.

The lays are still doing their recovery bit.

Until tomorrow then.....................................

Wednesday Results

Hi everyone

Well thats a job well done. We thought Newcastle would lose the day to the weather but thought Linfield would be okay, fortunately they only delayed by an hour. The Back romped in for us, I hope you all got the early price., and the Lay drifted out in price and went off almost as co-favourite of 4. The fog did play a part in the excitement of the race as no-one knew who would come out of the fog in a good position. Our selection went backwards towards the end and finished 6th.

A good day all in all and the Lay deficit is reducing by the day..

On to tomorrow..........

Tense Tuesday

Hi Everyone

What a day, our first Lay, I thought was beaten as did most people on Betfair looking at the odds people were trading on the outcome, but unfortunately it was a Dead Heat. Now as some of you have enquired, a Dead Heat, as far as Lays go. is basically for 2 Horses 1/2 the stake is lost. So we lost about 0.44 points so it would be 1.44 going on to the next who was well beaten. So that's another point recovered on the Lays.

The Backs had their own excitement with Ryde Back, who had drifted in the market in favour of the 2nd Fav and before the off around 3.2 was available. He did look okay then seemed to lose all interest and I admit I thought the second Fav looked good, but he got a second wind and charged up the last couple of furlongs and was beaten on the line by a shorthead and an outsider. How unlucky, the next Back cruised home giving us a net profit on the day so we mustn't grumble.

On to tomorrow............

Monday Results

Hi Everyone,

We think the Back horse, Havenstone, had a terrible race and did not perform aswell as he should have. Sorry about that, still just in profit but we have got to strive to get  a better performance with the Backs.

The Lays are still on the road to recovery, we had to adjust the points over the weekend, to our detriment, but we had found an error and had to put it right.

Those of you doing the Lays are probably not as far down as we are showing, from what we have heard, after the first ever 4 Lays going down for us, some members decided that as the prices were so low it was worth carrying on even though we stopped at 4.

Lets hope we can find some winners for the Backs system and get that rolling, speak to you all tomorrow.......

Frustrated

With Kelso being abandoned it blew a big hole in our back selections. The only 1 left run really well but come second the money came late for the winner and he cruised it. We are still in profit for the month. Better luck next week.

We have had emails about the lays over the  last few days about what to do if we have a run were they all win. We recommend that you stop after 4 wins. However the other day we had our first ever 4 lay win, but the damage was not to severe because all the prices were very low.  Some members took the chance and went on the fifth lay which came 2nd, that is all well and good, but if that had won then where do you go. Laying is very personal thing how much pain you can take on the liability  front. The max points you can loose on our sytem is about 90 points - that is if all lays were 4.0 and they all won ( very unlikely) but it can happen. As long as you are aware of the max pain and are prepared for a max loss then there will be no nasty surprises.

Our records show that we have never had a run of 4 lay wins ( apart from the  low priced ones the other day) so the track record is very good.

If any members have any ideas they would like to share  wih us or anyone else then please use the comment  facility.

Until Sun ..............................................

Thurs Results

The lays are back on track after the first lay came 2nd.

The back was dreadful he tried to make all and got stuffed, sorry about that.

So untll tomorrow ................................

Ouch!

Well it had to happen sometime, this is the first time ever we have had 4 lays on the bounce go against us. However as I said this morning they were all pretty low prices - infact we are only 9.81 points down on the month. We are confident this will be over hauled and finsh the month in good profit.

I was very disappointed in the 1555 with E Ahern on Bonus obviously Hayley wanted it more!

The only back won today and we are 4.86 points up.

Tomorrow we start again on the Lays.

Regards

Lays Do It Again

Hi Everyone

Nice to see the Lays are keeping their end up, and are now 4 points up on the month.

The weather is still playing havoc with the race meetings with 2 more lost today and tomorrow not looking much better.

Anyway until tomorrow......

Monday Blues

Hi Everyone

Wolverhampton cancelled not long after we sent out the selections and also our Lay at Lingfield was given a boost when 2 of his main rivals were pulled out taking 26.4% of the book.

I know some of you traded out early for a miniscule loss, some others let it run. Obviously we had to let it run on but when 26+% of the book is withdrawn it upsets the apple cart. Never mind its only 0.81 of a point and we can recover that tomorrow, weather permitting.

Lets hope for better weather tomorrow, speak to you in the morning................

Sundays Results

Hi Everyone

A total reverse of Friday with the Lay winning for us and the Back losing.

Maybey tomorrow we can get a complete positive result, heres hoping.

Still we are about 4+ points up at the moment.

Speak to you all tomorrow..............

Good Start to the New Year

Hi Everyone

Well the Backs did us proud today with the first ' Ruby Crown' kept on fighting to the end as did 'El Diego'. The second selections price did drop rapidly after we had issued the selctions to you websites, I hope you all got on even if at a slightly lower price.

Unfortunately the perfect day was not to be after our Lay selection won his race quite well even though he was under quite a bit of pressure. Not to worry we know we can pull that back.

Speak to you all on Sunday......
